Fourth Regional Training Course on the National Strategy for the Development of Statistics (NSDS)

The NSDS training course in Asia and the Pacific region aims to strengthen capacity of middle-level managers at the National Statistical Offices which enables them to lead the design and implementation of NSDS at a country level, consistent with the guidelines and fundamental principles for structuring the preparation and implementation of NSDS, and taking into consideration the country’s needs for Agenda 2030.
Regional Course on Informality: Definitions, Measurement, SDGs and Other Policy Indicators

Regional workshop on short-term economic indicators and service statistics to support 2008 SNA implementation

Workshop on Computer Assisted Personal Interviewing (CAPI): Electronic capture of data for agricultural and rural statistics

This workshop aimed at addressing the need of statistical offices and statistical units of agricultural ministries of producing timely statistics through adoption of new technologies for data collection and production of global minimum core data items. The workshop will provide a strong foundation in Computer Assisted Personal Interviewing (CAPI) functions. Participants are expected to acquire skills to implement a basic survey.
Regional Training Course on Costs of Agricultural Production Statistics, Communication and Advocacy for Statistics

This training course is aimed at strengthening the communication and advocacy capacities of
statistical offices and statistical units of agricultural ministries to promote use of agricultural data in
policy monitoring and evaluation. Specifically, the training course will equip participants with
knowledge of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) related to agriculture, associated indicators
and tools to promote their importance in national development policy. Participants are expected to
lead advocacy events in their respective countries that puts investment in agriculture statistics as
crucial in monitoring SDGs.
Subregional Workshop on Data and Statistics for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for High-Level Official Statisticians

Regional Training Course on Integrated Economic Statistics to support 2008 SNA implementation

Regional Workshop on Training of Trainers for Official Statistics

To support statistical training providers in the Asia-Pacific region to assess training needs, design and deliver statistical training programmes for official statisticians working at National Statistical Systems (NSSs) in a more harmonized form and with higher quality, SIAP is organizing a Training of Trainers (ToT) workshop (21-24 March 2017). The ToT workshop aims to bring senior officials from institutes providing training on official statistics in the Asia-Pacific region to share best practices regarding training design and facilitation. The workshop also aims to equip participants with the improved skills in designing, developing and delivery of training on official statistics with focus on agricultural and rural statistics. Group Training Course on Applying ICT Innovation for Modernizing Official Statistical Systems
23 January to 3 March 2017| Chiba, Japan
The six-week residential course enhanced the knowledge and skills of participants to apply statistical standards and frameworks and ICT innovations for modernizing collection, processing, presentation and dissemination of data to meet data requirements for monitoring SDG indicators. Participants applied the acquired knowledge and skills on designing, managing and implementing a sample survey project using CAPI (Computer Assisted Personal Interviewing) data collection methods and presented their results at the end of the training course.
Statistical Leadership Training of Heads of NSOs

The Statistical Leadership Training aims to develop and enhance the leadership skills of new NSO heads towards effective leadership of statistical offices and the national statistical system at large. It also aims to improve confidence of NSO heads as statistical leaders in their national statistical system, to build sense of accountability, and create networks among statistical leaders in the region. The training will also be a venue for shared learning of experiences and practices in leading and managing their statistical offices and in their leadership role in the national statistical system.

Policy Analysis Workshop: Transition towards Sustainable Agriculture in the context of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development – Strategic Implementation, Follow Up and Review
The present policy analysis workshop: Transition towards Sustainable Agriculture in the context of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development – Strategic Implementation Follow Up and Review” is planned to respond to emerging challenges of Asia-Pacific developing countries and to assist enhancing national capacities for effectively making relevant policy decisions. The programme is built on that of the previous workshop ‘Monitoring and Evaluation of Policy Options for Sustainable Agriculture, Poverty Alleviation and Food Security in the Post-2015 Development Agenda’ organized by CAPSA and SIAP in in Bogor, Indonesia, in November 2014, and further reflects the latest and ongoing discussion at the global level on SDG implementation, as well as ‘Follow up and review’, and aims to highlight most pragmatic components required for critical decision-making for advancing national sustainable development agenda through promoting sustainable agriculture.
